Imagine you have a color paper that is plain and a white paper in which some words are written on it. When you put the white paper on a photocopier, the words shown on the white paper will be copied onto the color paper. In this case, the photocopier is analogous to an EAM, the white paper with words is analogous to an input signal that carries information, the original color plain paper is analogous to the input probe light carries no information (CW lightwave), the white and the color papers are analogous to two lightwaves at different wavelengths, and the output color paper with words after the copying is done is analogous to the output converted signal (i.e. the lightwave with information carries at the probe light wavelength) after passing thru the EAM. That is the main idea of my research topic.
